Alaska, thank you, old friend.
It was raining, and no otter or seal sightings in Auke Bay…and suddenly a humpback whale jumped in front of our sea kayaks! Thank you, whale, for reminding me that life doesn’t always unfold the way I think it will. And sometimes it’s even more amazing than I could have ever imagined. Wowie! This was the message I was trying to impart to the Sealaska interns as their careers begin to take shape as young Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian leaders.
I also had the amazing experience of teaching workshops on teamwork and improv to Girl Scouts of Alaska under a beautiful canopy in the Tongass Forest. Best line of the week: “my brother calls me cookie, and I don’t know why.” Haha!
